Education remains a top priority in Elgin. In fact, in 2021, a $190 million school bond was approved to support new construction and essential upgrades, all aimed at fostering a better environment that nurtures strong educational experiences in the Elgin Independent School District.

With a newly renovated high school, middle school, and four elementary schools, families have a variety of educational choices, regardless of their child’s age.

Harvest Ridge is one of the listed elementary schools. We’re proud to say we contributed to the construction of this school by providing 12 acres of land for the Elgin Independent School District. This donation marked the first time in EISD’s history that residential developers donated land for a public school.

Driving Elgin’s Future: Growth Fueled by Connectivity

Elgin is one of the fastest-growing areas in the United States, and its expansion has driven development. The city has experienced significant retail growth, now hosting major stores like HEB, Academy Sporting Goods, Lowe’s, Best Buy, and Petco, which improve convenience for residents.

Traveling from Austin has become easier due to improvements along Highway 290 and new routes through Manor and East Austin, greatly reducing travel times for both daily commutes and weekend trips.

With improved access, increasing amenities, and a strong sense of community, living in Elgin now offers the perfect balance of small-town charm and big-city convenience.

Elgin Exhibits Town Spirit

When it comes to culture, the city is famous for its celebrations and festivals. The town goes all out with delicious food, live music, crafts, and entertainment. One of their most well-known and distinctive festivals is the Hogeye Festival, which aligns with Elgin’s nickname as the “Sausage Capital of Texas.”

Soon to celebrate its 38th annual Hogeye Festival, the city of Elgin hosts the event every October in downtown Elgin. The festival honors family, community, and most importantly, the famous sausage. They even feature a unique mascot—a paper-mâché pig named Priscilla.

Festivals aren’t the sole attractions in Elgin. The downtown area and local food scene are also noteworthy. Located in the city center, the downtown district buzzes with history, culture, and community spirit. It includes quaint shops, like an antique store, Elgin Emporium, and The Owl Wine Bar & Home Goods Store, which combines a wine bar with home decor offerings.

Alongside popular BBQ joints like Southside Market & Barbeque and Meyer’s Elgin Smokehouse, people also praise the family-owned Aviator & Drafthouse, known for its pizza and wide selection of draft beers and wines— a great spot to bring your family or loved ones to sit down and enjoy a meal.
