We are truly honored to have been recognized as an Austin Gives award winner this year, specifically for Employee Engagement within the large company category. Austin Gives plays a pivotal role in empowering and celebrating corporate philanthropy in our region, fostering generosity that has a lasting impact. This recognition reflects our team’s unwavering dedication to community service and inspires us to aim even higher in 2024.
In 2023, our team collectively donated an incredible 2,983 hours of volunteer work, with every single employee participating. This amounts to nearly 2% of their work time, surpassing our original 1% goal. For this accomplishment, we owe a tremendous thank you to our dedicated team members, who have fully embraced the values of Brohn Homes.
Our contributions included:
- Community First Village (Mobile Loaves & Fishes):1,627 hours, providing materials and labor to construct two tiny homes in a supportive community for those overcoming chronic homelessness.
- Build a Bike: 156 hours, assembling 12 bikes for underprivileged children whose parents are enrolled at Austin Community College.
- Central Texas Food Bank: 104 hours, organizing the food pantry and community kitchen.
- Caritas of Austin: 112 hours, preparing and serving hot meals to individuals facing homelessness.
- Safe Austin Rescue Ranch: 104 hours, constructing pig pens and assisting at the ranch, which serves children and animals who have experienced abuse.
- Build a Bed: 760 hours, building 30 beds for children currently without a bed of their own.
- Central Texas Children’s Home: 120 hours, sponsoring holiday gifts, food, and outings for children.
- Front Steps: Sponsoring their October “Picnic in the Park,” raising awareness and funds for this nonprofit combating homelessness.
In 2024, we’ve set our sights even higher to increase our total volunteer hours to 3,200, aiming to reach a 2% of donated time per employee. We also plan to expand our support to 12 organizations, building on the eight that we were honored to assist in 2023.
